Filmmaking 101: Make sure you can get the rights before you make the movie. Nina Paley did not, and that's why she's stuck in distro hell with her lovely and creative Sita Sings the Blues because of the music in the film, all copyrighted blues tunes from the 20s. It's played in tons of festivals, and on PBS, but she'll never make a red cent off of it. Sad Story. However, the full film has been posted online! You can watch it here: blog.ninapaley.com
